I thought the first movie was pretty good, and I am sure I will enjoy the second. I would not say I am excited, but I probably will be eventually.

I'm going to take some good friends of mine to this.

And how did I know that Megan Fox was going to be brought into this?

Anyway, I've been a fan of this ever since the beginning, (I was maybe 5) and I'm certainly satisfied with its direction.

Well the score for the first movie was good.

But now, Linkin Park are working with Hans Zimmer to score Revenge of the Fallen. Which means double the mediocrity.

I still have strong hopes for the movie, but come on. Spielberg should have introduced Bay to John Williams.

When you call anything with harsh vocals "screamo", it makes as much sense as calling anything with distorted guitar "heavy metal".

I doubt John Williams would fit the movie well. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Williams, but this movie just doesn't seem his style.

I wasn't entirely serious. Still, anything from Williams would be better than LP and Zimmer - which is the worst collaboration I've heard of since Daughtry and Chad Kroeger.

Has anyone seen this movie yet?

It comes out this Friday I think here in San Diego, CA but I'm not sure if it has already been shown in the East Coast or in Europe (?)?

Here is Variety's review but I think there is a spoiler in the middle body of the article.

Here is also the accompanying "The Divide" music video by Linkin Park for the movie's main theme if anyone is interested and here too is the soundtrack list by other artists.

[Mods - let me know if this thread is too old to resurrect, as it's on the second page.]

do you need to see the first movie to understand the second?

anyhow, I'll probably end up renting the first one sometime soon, and maybe catch the 2nd when its out of theaters/cheap seats.

It's not out yet, but judging from a couple synopsizes, yeah, it would be a good idea to see the first.

I got IMAX tickets for the midnight show this coming Tuesday night (or Wednesday morning, technically 12:01), which is when it opens here. I'm really pumped

It was great, as I expected. I think it's pretty safe to say you'll like it if you enjoyed the first.
Bigger robots, bigger action, more humor and more Megan Fox.
Critics will/do hate it cause it's not a masterpiece in film - which Michael Bay has never gotten close to making anyways.

Also, it's not really necessary to have seen the first.

Just saw this. I liked the first one but I was completely indifferent to this one. It just gets a huge meh from me.

I give this one a C-/D+.

There were too many jokes that weren't that great, some teetering on vulgar and completely unnecessary . The amount of swearing was ridiculous, it was like they were trying to make it a point to swear way more than the last movie. No joke, 2 instances of dogs humping and then later a small RC car transformer humping the girl's leg.

The action was completely incoherent. At points I didn't know which was the decepticon and which was the autobot. Not to mention that half the combat was skipped or something because at the end half the robots are missing and it NEVER shows or explains where they went. I assume half of them are dead.

The movie was rushed. So rushed that it dragged by. They kept trying to insert new thing after new thing and never resolving anything. In all honesty, if I had to describe the plot, I'd have to just give a VERY generic idea of it.

It was just bad. The first movie was great, this one... well... is like Superman 3, I have a feeling someday there will be remakes, and this one will never have happened.

Just out of curiosity was the blatant product placement as bad in this one as the first?

If you're looking for deep emotional value and plot development, this movie isn't for you. If you are a stuck up movie reviewer, this movie is definitely not for you.

If you like a bunch of awesome robots dueling it out + MEGAN FOX.... THIS MOVIE IS FOR YOU!

I personally loved it. Can't wait until it comes out on DVD.
