Applying to college for Fall 2009!

Hey!

As I check my e-mail 5 billion times a day waiting for an answer on my applications, I thought I'd ask and see if any other CGRers had applied for college for 2009! What program did you apply for ? Where did you apply? Where do you hope to go if all goes well?

Good luck to all!
noelle

I'm applying for a master's in statistics, at

University of Washington (rejected booo)
University of Minnesota (accepted)
University of California, Irvine (accepted)
University of British Columbia (waiting to hear back)
Oregon State University (waiting to hear back)

UBC is probably my top choice right now, and I hope (fingers crossed) that I will be able to get a TA/RA position with some funding, as Minnesota and Irvine didn't offer much financial aid for master's students this year.

So we'll see

UC Irvine is a pretty great school. I know lots of people who went there.

I've applied to...

Messiah (accept)
Temple (accept)
Rider (accept)
UNC (DEnied)
UNC-Wilmington (accept)
Princeton (waiting)

Right now my top 2 are Messiah and Temple, for communications. If I could get into Princeton that'd be sweet, but they don't have a communications program so I'd have some decisions to make.

Congrats on the acceptances and best of luck re: Princeton!

Out of the schools you've been accepted to, which are you leaning towards?

Thanks!

I'm leaning towards Messiah or Temple at this point...Temple is a great communications school right in downtown Philly, and Messiah is a Christian school about 2 hours away in Harrisburg who's communications program actually is partenered with Temple. So it's basically deciding on a Christian school versus a city school with possibly better opportunities. I'm torn.

I applied to:

Virginia Tech (accepted)
UVA (denied)
James Madison University (accepted)

I'm still waiting to hear back from VT and JMU's honors programs, but I have committed to JMU!

Well, i made my decision! I visited OSU, and liked it a lot. And there were some opportunities there that I didn't realize, that actually fit my interests/background perfectly. I really got on well with a lot of the profs (had a great talk with one about gardening, and another about contra dance and folk music). And then to top it all off, I got offered a teaching assistantship with full tuition remission.

So OSU here I come! I'm going to be doing a Master's degree in Statistics - possibly a double master's degree in Statistics and Operations Research

Well I'm Canadian so you probably have never heard of these schools, but here goes.

McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario - (never heard back)
University of Guelph - Guelph, Ontario - (accepted!)
University of Ontario Institute of Technology - Oshawa, Ontario - (have to write two SAT subject tests)

UOIT is my top choice right now, in Manufacturing Engineering. The other two I applied for Mechanical Engineering.

Not on the same level as the rest of you, but I will be applying for a scholarship from my employer for Paramedic school through the National College of Technical Instruction. Makes a $10,000 school free.

Three of my brothers went to Messiah. Have you visited there? It's a nice campus.

p.s. I applied to Pacific Union College in CA and Eastern Mennonite University in VA. I was accepted to both, and after much mental suffering (the decision was HARD!!!) I decided to go to EMU. I will be majoring in Photography.
