The Downsized Thread

Okay, so I got laid off for the second time in 12 months. You know what I'm tired of? Giving my gender and ethnicity on job applications. Oh, yea there's always the little disclaimer about this information won't be used to determine whether or not I get the job. But its got me fed up.

An another thing. All this bail out money doesn't seem to be doing jack squat. How about just cutting every one of us a refund check and we'll go on from there?

End of rant.

You can. But it messes with your mind when you want the job.

Hang in there. I'm currently taking some classes in electronics, and A+, N+ hoping to find work this fall when I graduate. After working nearly 30 years in the printing industry, it's a challenge to start anew, but I know God has a plan, I just need to be available, willing, and maintain a positive attitude, and great things will happen.

I'll remember you in my prayers.

PS. a good rant is good once-in-awhile...have one anytime ;-)

It might help to consider temporary work or contract work in the interim, until things improve. I lost my job in August last year, but am making more money on a temporary contract job. One thing that I have to do is travel and be away from home for weeks, though I get to go home every other weekend. My new job is with the FDIC, closing down banks that have failed and helping the uninsured depositors get back some money. The bailout money is doing some good in that respect. You hear about borrowers all the time, but no one says anything about the depositors who are at risk too (above the insured amounts). It's not as simple as the media is portraying it. I pray that you find something soon, but you might have to look outside the box for opportunities. You might want to consider something totally different than what you have been doing.
