| NFL (ex) Head Coaches Of the head coaches fired so far this year, which one do you think has the best opportunity to be a head coach again in 2009?
I think Mike Shanahan will be picked up quite soon. He's a proven winner, and has a history of longevity when it comes to building a team that competes year-in year-out. In this day of free agency and salary caps, that's saying a lot.
I believe Cremel will be a Defensive Coordinator somewhere next season, he's just too good building defenses that someone won't pick him up in that role.
Watta ya think? |

| I've heard a lot of Shanahan/Jets talk this morning. Conventional thinking seems to be he would be a good fit there and "is he or isn't he" Farve would do well under his system. Shanahan could go a number of places. I don't see any of the other guys getting a head coaching spot next year. |

| Agreed. Shanahan will probably be picked up next year. I just can't believe that organizations are putting their headcoaches on the chopping block all at one time.

| I was blown away when I heard Shanahan was fired.
I think it would be very interesting if he went to Oakland. That may be unlikely, but I think it would be a good fit. JaMarcus Russel needs a coach who knows QBs, and Shanahan knows QBs, no doubt.
I am voting against him going to the Jets, just because I don't want them to be good. That, and it would be the same situation with Cowher. Shanahan will want to have control over personnel, so Mike Tannenbaum would either have to step down, or be paid not to do the job he was hired to do. And Tannenbaum did a pretty good job with personnel last offseason (aside from Gholston), so I think he'll stay.
What teams do you think would fire their current head coaches for no reason other than to get Shanahan? I can think of Oakland and KC right off the bat, what do you guys think? I believe there is a good chance that Shanahan could stay in the division......the Broncos might really regret that. |

If Shanahan went to the Chiefs, that could work. It would also be his third AFC West Team. |

| Wow, silly me. I really wasn't thinking there.
Has Fassel commented on whether or not he wants the Raiders' job? |

I have very little doubt that Herm Edwards will be gone, once the GM is hired. It's always nice to hire a coach that hates Oakland. The KC/Oakland rivalry lives on, even though both teams are down. |
