| Essential Records Releases God of Wonders April 23 (NASHVILLE, Tenn) February 1, 2001-Essential Records announces the release of God of Wonders, an original compilation of popular worship songs recorded by contemporary Christian music’s most renowned artists. An extension of the Dove Award-winning brand City On A Hill, God of Wonders continues the artists-in-community tradition, providing a well-rounded worship experience for personal and collective growth.
God of Wonders, available in stores April 23, boasts contributions by multi-GRAMMY-winning and platinum-selling artists Jars of Clay and Michael W. Smith, multi-GRAMMY-nominated Third Day, also voted best group and artist of 2001 by the Gospel Music Association, as well as Caedmon’s Call, FFH, SONICFLOOd with Jason Ingram, and Adore. Additionally, the album showcases the talents of two up-and-coming artists, Sarah Sadler and the Paul Colman Trio.
Incorporating both old and new worship melodies, God of Wonders features contemporary recordings of traditional choruses such as “I Love You, Lord,” “All in All,” “As the Deer” and “He Is Exalted.” The album also includes modern day favorites “Your Love, Oh Lord” by Third Day, “Needful Hands” by Jars of Clay, and “God of Wonders” from the original City On A Hill project, all No.1 radio hits.
“We’re excited about the way this project has developed,” commented Bob Wohler, Essential Records’ A&R director and co-producer of the project. “God of Wonders is different from anything we have attempted in the past. Some of the songs we chose to include on the album have been around for a long time. Our hope is that this record will help to revive those songs, giving them new meaning to a new generation of believers.”
God of Wonders was produced by two-time Dove Award nominee for producer of the year, Steve Hindalong (The Choir, By The Tree, The Waiting, Common Children), Marc Byrd (Common Children, co-wrote “God of Wonders”) and Bob Wohler (Third Day, Caedmon’s Call, FFH). The trio, in addition to executive producer Robert Beeson, is also responsible for the first City On A Hill project and City On A Hill - Sing Alleluia, due in stores February 19.
