| Sweep Arpeggios (Minor) You may have seen my last post on major arpeggios. Well, here are exercises for minor arpeggios.
Examples 1 and 2 are the major arpeggios worked with in the last "Sweep post."
Ex 1/G major/Pos. 3"
e-------------------3h7p3-------------------
B----------------3-----------3----------------
G-------------4----------------4--------------
D----------5----------------------5-----------
A--------5---------------------------5--------
E--3h7--------------------------------7p3--
Ex 2/G major/Pos. 7:
e-----------------------7h10p7-----------------------
B--------------------8-------------8--------------------
G-----------------7-------------------7-----------------
D--------------9-------------------------9--------------
A----------10------------------------------10----------
E--7h10---------------------------------------10p7--
To transfer these major arpeggios to minor arpeggios just lower the 3rd degree by a half step (remember this arpeggio is still a chord just broken up into separate notes)
G Major Triad: G B D
G Minor Triad: G Bb D
So essentially all of the B's will be turned into Bb's to give you your minor arpeggio.
Ex 3/G minor/Pos. 3:
e-------------------3h7p3-------------------
B----------------3-----------3----------------
G-------------3----------------3--------------
D----------5----------------------5-----------
A--------5---------------------------5--------
E--3h6--------------------------------6p3--
Ex 4/G minor/Pos. 6:
e-----------------------6h10p6-----------------------
B--------------------8-------------8--------------------
G-----------------7-------------------7-----------------
D--------------8-------------------------8--------------
A----------10------------------------------10----------
E--6h10---------------------------------------10p6--
Here is a hybrid arpeggio with these two minor shapes.
Ex 5:
e---------------------6h10p6--------------
B------------------8------------8------------
G-------------3/7-----------------7---------
D----------5-------------------------8------
A--------5------------------------------10--
E--3h6--------------------------------------
Hopefully these patterns start to make sense to you. It will also benefit you to try these exercises on different frets. Memorize the shapes and move them up and down the neck. But most of all, have fun with them! |
