Worship Song Strumming?

Is there a universal strumming technique for worship songs (to me it seems like it, at least similar)? I have chords down for some songs, but I don't know how to play them.

I generally break up most strumming into eighth note and sixteenth note strumming.

In each of these styles, there is a constant up-down motion of the arm at the tempo of either eighth notes or sixteenth notes. Different patterns of hitting the strings vs. not hitting the strings, and accented strokes make up the strumming pattern, which implies a specific rhythm to the part.
