The Thrawn Trilogy is the A+ of Star Wars books, closely followed by Matt Stover's Ep III novel and his more recent Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor. The X-wing series is a solid A as well, especially Starfighters of Adumar. Wes Janson's characterization has to be one of the best (Read: funniest) expanded-on movie characters of any in EU literature. Him and Wedge and Hobbie, of course. All of the Rogues are awesome.

I enjoyed the x-wing series too, great series. I didn't care for Joruus C'baoth in the Thrawn series, though overall it was excellent.
