Hey Erin I am a freshmen at U of M.

I can recommend a church, tell you about the good and bad places to live, or whatever if you want.

That's so neat you go there now. I'm so excited to be there next year. I'd love to hear anything you have to say

. I actually live just outside Ann Arbor now. It's only about 20 min away. I'll be playing volleyball there as well, so I'm totally pumped.
So what church do you go to? My best friend is a year older than me and goes there now. She goes to campus crusade and loves it. What do you think?
Also . . . what's the party situation? Is there a lot of pressure? I'm guessing it'll be extra tough for me bein an athlete, but I'm hoping to get a strong group of friends outside of that so I'm not always with the team.
Any advice or things to watch out for?

Hey Erin, well I got to a multiethnic chuch called Harvest Mission Community Church (hmcc.net). I don't know much about Campus Crusade but you probably can't go wrong with them if that's where you feel like God wants you to be. I'd suggest you check out some other groups (ie. IV) just for good measure...but if you don't that's ok because I didn't, haha.

As far the party situation, yes this school is big on the greek system, but personally i don't feel the need to get involved because I have a good solid foundation with Christian friends here to keep me accountable. I agree it may be different for you because you're an athlete, but remember the team will always be a great mission field...just stay strong, don't get dragged down and it'll all be good.

and watch out for the fat monster squirrels that run around on campus trying to jump on you

oh and you're very lucky to be going to school so close to home...well...actually I guess that depends on how u like home, but that's a different story...hehe

The best part is the church I'm at with the cell group ministry they have. We meet every Tuesday to share, hang out, and fellowship.

The worst part is the weather....but you're probably used to it. I'm from the East Coast where it's not as bad.

oh and obviously i get weary of classes often...also riding the bus from Hill to North Campus can get annoying, so is trekking from Hill to Central. Not that Hill is a bad place to live.

I have two cousins that go to U of M. One even has my old guitar with him

The other (his older sister) is a medical student in her 2nd year.... I was on track to be a med student there but the call to youth ministry "side-tracked" me in a good way. Nice campus, though. Tons and tons and tons of people..... Also plenty of socially unacceptable quirks, like the Nude Mile and the "Hash Bash" to make you good and nauseous....

~If it makes you feel any better my dad went to OSU, he's grown out of that though and he's a Blue fan now. :ktongue:
