| Attack of the Clones had a much more epic/interesting battle (Battle of Geonosis) compared to the Gungan/Battle Droid battle in Phantom. Although, I have to say the Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan/Darth Maul duel was better than the Anakin/Obi-Wan/Dooku duel in Attack. Even though we finally got to see Yoda fight with a lightsaber in Attack, a double-blade lightsaber is still cooler than two at once.
My list would be:
1. Empire Strikes Back
2. A New Hope (acting was horrible but it serves as a standalone story and absolutely foundational; it simply can't be any lower on the list for me)
3. Return of the Jedi / Revenge of the Sith (it's a tie - I hate the ewoks and I found Revenge to be more satisfying and exciting than Return)
5. Attack of the Clones
6. Phantom Menace
My reason for Empire being #1 is that it effectively blew the Star Wars universe open for the first time. A New Hope took place on exclusively on Tatooine, on the Death Star, and in space. Empire widens it include Hoth, Dagobah, and Bespin. Not only that, but Empire also features real space battles and chases that weren't technologically capable with New Hope (i.e. the asteroid field sequence).
It's also quite dark. The Dagobah training, especially the "cave" sequence, the massive plot twist ("Luke, I am your father"), Han's torture and freezing, etc.
It develops each character in ways that aren't explored in either New Hope or ROTJ. The Han/Leia romance begins. Boba Fett is introduced.
They should have used Kashiyyk and wookies instead of Ewoks on Endor in ROTJ.

I havent watched all of them in forever and I would have to do so before making a list.Im not sure if I would have Revenge somewhere in the top 3,but I know theres one movie it'd be close to replacing for me,but I cant remember which one.
