| Estaban Guitars I was flipping throught the telivision today and saw Estaban on HSN with a sales pitch for his guitars. He was saying how great they are and how their the best guitars in the world and all that jazz. I was like........No........Why would you buy without even playing it..........just........no. So I got to thinking an just thought that I would come on here and ask if anyone has played or bought an Estaban Guitar and what you thought about it. Here is the one I saw him selling. I'm not sure if he sells different types or not. http://media.hsn.com/esteban-vintage...*RecentlyonAir
Thanks

The thread gets a bit uncivil, but... it gives you an idea that those guitars suck pretty badly.

| my dad bought my brother an esteban guitar, because he really enjoys esteban's music and thought maybe he could manufacture decent guitars.
well...from the perspective of a trained classical guitarist, I have to say no no no no no no. from the perspective of a human, I have to say...no no no no no.
if you read the thread Bill linked, you'll probably find a ton of answers that agree with mine. in fact, I do believe I posted in that thread once upon a time.
*edit* okay I didn't post in that thread. maybe it was a different one about him. but anyways, never ever buy an esteban guitar and recommend the same to the people around you. if you want reasons: the neck is too wide, the action too high, there's fret buzzing, the lacquer is rather stiff..
then again, if you want an interesting guitar that you will never play and just want to hang on the wall, he had a very striking one released recently with a car on it. just don't fall prey to the illusion that you will ever be able to make pretty sounds with it. |

| I saw a post one time of someone who actually dropped their esteban guitar that they sell on TV...IT WAS MADE OF HARD CARDBOARD! I am NOT kidding!
They took pics of the inside of the guitar....NOT WOOD!
Do not buy those guitars, they are a scam!
And Esteban plays martins and handmade classical guitars himself....he does not play those cheap guitars. Unless he is demonstrating them to sell on TV! |

| I started talking about playing guitar so about a week after I bought one the Esteban shows up as a gift of love so I had two guitars.
As a $100 guitar it doesn't match the $100 Mitchell at Guitar Center or Carlos Robelli at Sam Ash. Worse, its not actually a $100 guitar that you find at a discount store, Esteban is sold as a four easy payments for $29.95 guitar to those who see three digit price tag and say no to the gift of music.
In my opinion a first guitar should be built like a tank and ship ready to play. And the tuners should hold it in tune. All test which Estebans fail. By the time you set it up, change the strings and pay off the credit, it cost the same as the entry level Yamaha or Ibanez which ship ready to play but Esteban has nowhere near the quality.
If you truly need a guitar to play at the beach, in a storm, or to take into a pro wrestling ring and canget around the pay on credit angle maybe an Esteban is for you. |

| Our local Mom 'n Pop sells a cheapo imported acoustic for sixty five bucks that blows away anything in the sub $100 market. They look horrible, you can get a natural, Kentucky Wildcat blue, red "burst", or pink paint job. Thing is they are set up by one of the guys in the store and play beautifully. They might be a bit on the low side for my taste but they sure won't cause a beginner to bleed. The sound is so-so but what do you expect from a plywood cheapie? One of the salesmen takes it upon himself to set them up while he's just standing around. He does the same thing to the little 3/4 scale acoustics that they sell by the ton around Christmas.
For a little more money they can do you even better.
There's no good reason to buy an Esteban, unless it's as a gag gift. |

LOL! I can just see one of those pro wrestlers smashing an esteban over some other wrestlers head! Funny. |
