Harmonic Melodies

Here's a harmonic melody that I've been working on. Hopefully ya'll will be able to get some ideas from this. Like my last thread, if you have any modifications or new ideas, feel free to tab them out.

The melody is in 4/4 time. Meaning there are 4 beats per measure, and quarter note gets one count.

a = quarter note
a+ = dotted quarter note (quarter note with an eight note add on)
-- = tie
_ = spacers, doesn't signify time at all ignore them

The chords listed above the melody can be played over it.

Em
__a+___a+____a____a___a__a--a
--------------------<12>------------------------
-----------<12>------------------<7>----------
-----------------------------<5>---------<7>---
--------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------
--<12>------------------------------------------

C_______________D
__a+___a+____a____a+__a+__a__
--------------------<12>-----------------------
-----------<12>------------------<7>---------
-----------------------------<5>---------<7>--
--------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------
--<12>-----------------------------------------

I once figured out that you can play all the way up an A major scale in all harmonics in one octave...

e---------------------------<12>----------------------------
B--------<12>-------------------<7>---------------------
G--------------------<7>-----------------------------------
D--<7>----------------------------------------------------
A--<5>--------<9>----------------------------------------
E-----------------------------------------<9>---< this one is an octave too low

You can find a leading tone in the correct octave *slightly* ahead of the sixth fret, but somewhat difficult to hit. Also, the octave is on the A string a little in front of the second fret.

Also for creative uses of harmonics, i recommend listening to Jaco's Portrait of Tracy.

Thanks a lot Rainer for the insight, that is something that I never knew about. I'll have to try that after I get home from work.
Oh, and thanks LC. I was hoping someone would like to hear something like that. I always thought harmonic melodies were pretty cool. Good luck with the national anthem....by the way, are you using pinch harmonics too?
