When it comes down to the way a guitar looks, for me it all comes down to one thing, does it sound as good as it looks. If we're talking about unusual shapes and styles at church, I've found that if the music sounds good almost anything is acceptable.

The thing is, because of my personality, I think people almost expect me to buy a bright yellow guitar with an odd shape... And I'd really hate to disapoint.

I'm having a bit of good-natured fun with a buddy of mine now over this topic. Their praise band is filled with typical shredder guitars, Jacksons, Deans, Ibanez, and I'm planting the seed of doubt that at some point their bass player will spontaneously tear into "The Ace of Spades" during a service. They're super nice guys and really accomplished players. In turn, I'm getting heat because my guitars look and sound like something you'd see in a honkey tonk.

The bottom line is that it is not what a man plays but rather what comes forth that makes him unclean, to borrow a phrase from our Lord.

Thats funny I always see the opposite with most church bands. Bring something in with a pointed headstock and they look at you like you have leprosy lol.

Yeah I love the finish. That picture doesn't near do it justice though. It's a beautiful guitar in person.

Looks are a decent deal for me, I honestly don't like the BC rich look or the death metal look type guitars but some of them sound really good.

For me it must have both looks and great sound. If it weren't for looks I would never have picked up and played the guitar I later bought and love.

I'm confused by the extended upper bout on the body... what is the purpose of that? It makes it look unbalanced and awkward. My first thought was to add sustain, sort of like what some bass builders do, but it doesn't seem like a big enough mass to have much effect

I'm usually an epiphone person but I have to admit thats pretty ugly

Most of the guitars I love I initially thought were butt ugly.

I still think some of them are, but I love to play them none the less.

I'd have a hard time playing something I thought was ugly. I guess I'm just weird like that.
