Mazda Tribute

Does anyone have a belt diagram for a 2003 Mazda Tribute, 6 cylinder. Everyone (Napa, Autozone, etc.) seems to have one and they are all wrong. This is the first vehicle that I have seen that doesn't have it stamped on the radiator or somewhere. The Haynes manual didn't even have it.

As a side note, whoever decided to put the alternator where it is should be whipped.

is it a single serpentine belt?

if it is, it should be pretty obvious, the ridge side goes on the ridge-y pulleys, and the back side of the belt goes against the smooth ones. Also, under the hood, or on the radiator support there should be a sticker that shows the actual belt routing, if you check for that.

Also, you can see if you can find the information for a ford escape of the same year, since it's the same vehicle.

Yes.

You would think.

I know but they are all ridge-y pulleys. I will figure it out but I just spent 30 minutes getting aggravated and thought someone could save me some time if they had a similar vehicle that actually had the diagram under the hood. Or maybe worked for Ford.

I checked. This is actually the first vehicle that I have seen that doesn't have a sticker showing the belt at all. I know some vehicles even have it in the glove box instead of under the hood but this one doesn't.

I know but I haven't found any information on it either. Thanks for the suggestions though. I guess I will just have to sit down and figure it out. It is just aggravating because I spent a week changing the alternator and it just really shouldn't be that hard. And now I am stuck on something as simple as putting the belt on.

do you have the owners manual? it may be in the maintenance section there as well. Otherwise it should be a pain, but generally speaking, in your corners your belt should be over, and in between that it should be under.

good luck!

Yep. Not in the owner's manual either.

Have you checked any diagrams for the Ford Escape (or does the Escape/Tribute use the same manual)?

Don't worry. I got the belt on. But if anyone runs across a diagram that I can print out, I'd appreciate it if you would send it to me.
