For what purpose?

Powering pedals? If that's the case......http://www.lizardlegeffects.com/thebox.html

If you mean like a standard power plug, I do not know.

is there anyway i would be able to do that with batteries?

gasoline powered generator is a little too hardcore for me haha
i need something that i could like carry in the glove compartment of my car or a backpack or something

You can buy battery powered lamps. For you glove compartment, a flashlight is probably the best plan.

Well, if you can find a way to turn 9V DC into 120V AC, then it's possible.

im talking about like a real lamp
like not a battery powered one
and im not talking about keeping the light in a glove compartment but the power source for it in case that wasnt clear

and also it doesnt have to be a light
there could be a number of things that i would want to power with it

I had something like this and I started using it with my HS band at football games. Mine could run a couple big amps for an entire football game... well worth it.

9V DC to 120V AC is doable, but the problem is the current capacity of a single 9V battery. From what I can find, it's ~100mA.

So, 100ma @ 9V = 900mW total power output. Assuming a perfect conversion to 120V, that would give you 7.5mA @ 120V.

You would need ~67 9V batteries connected in parallel to be able to power a normal 60W lightbulb by this method.

Yup. Simple physics prevents the existence of what you're asking.

Yep. I was unsure of the amperage part of the equation, but I figured the 9V's would be lacking.
