NFL week 6

Well, at least a couple of winless teams put one in the win column this week. Would you say the Rams posted the biggest upset this week. I know the Texans won also but the Dolphins were not expected to be good this year so that does not strike me as much of an upset. I would not be surprised if the Cowboys struggled from here on. T.O. does not play well if he is not happy. The moral in their locker room could become toxic. The Colts were given a gift by the Texans last week and it looks like that may be all the needed to start rolling. That's just a few of my thoughts about the weekend.

Add to the mix the fact that Dallas loses their punter for the season and Romo for at least four weeks. We'll see what happens...but it's starting to suck being a Cowboys fan. I so wish someone could buy the team...I can't stand Jerry Jones.

That came was horrible except for Barber's pass for TD, and Crayton's TD. THose were the only two highlights for me. I thought the Cowboys were suppose to be good this year. Well at least the Redskins lost. New York Giants are doing really good this season. They really are a team now after that super bowl victory last season.

I would say the Giants are the best in the league and the Rams did have the biggest upset of the week in my mind. The Falcons pulled to 4-2 and against the Bears!!I was pleasantly surprised at Ryans perfomance against them, that kids a winner. And how about the Bolts last night?Yeah the Patriots are way down this year, but that was unexpected.

I know the patriots are doing so bad without Tom Brady, and some of there starting defensive players.

FWIW, 4-2 isn't a bad record to have right now.

Too true.

In my opinion, if the Cowboys make it through the Brad Johnson era 2-1 I will be very pleased, and I think the team will be set up to make a late season run. All I know is that nobody gave the Cowboys any credit for their great season last year cause they were a playoff bust, so I would rather see them struggle through the first part of the season and get it out of their system. Then they can mesh when it matters. Gosh, I love the Cowboys, but they are just like the Yankees. All the media criticism and soap-opera plotlines just get old.

Looks like Cleveland is about to beat the Giants, though there is still a lot of time to play. Interesting.

Man. The Cardinals look GOOD.

That was such a disappointing game to watch if you were a giants fan. Its good for the cowboys, there in the same division.

Actually it doesnt really help the 'Boys or hurt the Giants. It was a nonconference game so pretty much means nil in the division.

I could be mistaken, but doesn't the team with the best record in reach division go to the playoffs?

Sry,didnt clarify enough. If it were to come to a tie between the Giants and the Cowboys with each having lost 2 games and the 'Boys' have come from Arizona and Washington and the Giants have come from Cleveland and say Baltimore wouldnt that put the Giants as winning the division?

On a side note im surprised by the Cowboys trading for Roy Williams.Their WR corps seemed solid to me.

Yes...eventually. I was just looking at it in terms of raw wins and losses.

Here's the breakdown of divisional tie-breaking procedure, from nfl.com:

If, at the end of the regular season, two or more clubs in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined.
Two Clubs
1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs).
2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
5. Strength of victory.
6. Strength of schedule.
7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
9. Best net points in common games.
10. Best net points in all games.
11. Best net touchdowns in all games.

So the importance of games in a tie situation goes:

head-to-head
division
common games
conference

that surprises me as well. I wonder if TO will get more or fewer looks with Williams there than he was with just Crayton and Witten.
