Where are the best places to visit on the east coast?

Okay, so I'm moving from Townsville to Canberra in late-November, then travelling down to Melbourne for Christmas. That's about 4500km or close to it, and we're driving!

Can someone tell me of some good places to check out?

I voted for NSW. Although, I really mean southern QLD - northern NSW.

If you are taking it slow you can go to the Sunny Coast, Gold Coast (including the hinterland), go the old way from the Gold Coast to Byron Bay (absolutely awesome drive if you have a car that can handle well). Going the old way also sends you towards Ocean Shores and Brunswick Heads (great little seafood/fish and chip place there called 'Starfish').

From there you can head to the main highway and hit Byron Bay if you are so inclined. Keep going and you can hit Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie.

I'm not thinking about going THAT far, but thanks guys. Which is the best theme park to visit on the gold coast? we're going to wet n wild (i think) this summer

I defiantly had more fun at Wet'n'Wild then anywhere else, Then again, I haven't been to Dreamworld in over ten years, and thus have never been to the water park (Whitewater World I think) there either.

Come to think of it, I haven't been to any of the parks in a few years, should go back.

where exactly are you from, if you don't mind me asking?

I went to dreamworld last year for the first time, and I thought it was absolutely awesome, but it was the first park i went to.

can someone get me the park sites, except for whitewater world and dreamworld?

I'm from South East Qld. I grew up on the Gold Coast, and most of my family is still there (I moved to Toowoomba because of uni). Brother just got a new car, so we have done a fair bit of driving for the sake of driving, mostly in Northern NSW because we hadn't really been anywhere there before.
