Learning?

Just the other day, a guy sat down and taught me how to play my favorite song. I already play the acoustic guitar and sing, but I feel my next passion for the piano. I want to know how you get started playing, and what do I need to start off learning?

This may sound obvious, but take a few lessons. At least until you learn the basic mechanics of playing the instrument and the basics of music theory as it relates to the piano. From there, you can take whatever road you choose. But you must have that solid background to build on.

Things like "This is middle C", "This is a quarter note", "This is a C major chord", "This is how you play a major scale", "This is how you use the pedal", etc, etc. Basically, all the stuff you'll learn in a few beginner lessons.

P.S. What was the "favorite song" that you learned?
