Ice cream doesn't seem like the greatest getting-to-know-you setting. It could just be me, but eating ice cream is incredibly awkward.

Seriously, though. She walks, breathes, talks, and doesn't eat babies. That's honestly reason enough to talk to a person, in most instances.

We fear the unknown... if you don't understand boys, then yes, you might fear us. But boys are alot simpler than girls and thus there is less to not know. And thusly less to fear. I believe it is the complexity of the female that frightens the average male.

OP: Go for it! Lol. Everything to gain, nothing to lose. At worst you'll have a new friend, at best you'll have a new wife. Get to know her. Try to find out what she is like as a friend before anything else... I think people respect that. Be real with her, have fun, be legit. Good day.

Guys are also expected to make the first move generally (I'm pretty sure this is still the case the majority of the time), and of course it's scary to go up to someone you're interested in and try to get something going...you don't really know how they'll react. And if a guy is struggling with self esteem issues as well, he might base his judgement of himself on the outcome of asking someone out.

I'm sorry, but all girls are not like that. In fact, there are many girls out there who are not that way, on purpose, because it isn't fair or kind in the slightest.

No offense, but I respectfully disagree completely. We guys are very complex creatures as well, it's just not quite as obvious. Now, I do agree that girls seem to be a mystery a lot of the time, but that's because we're guys: hormones are raging, and we don't pay attention as well as we could. Honestly, though, have you ever heard a woman say she's got her man figured out? If girls were so complex and we were so much simpler, it would happen... As it is, I've never heard that yet.
