V Picks

I think I'm gonna have to give these a try! Maybe expensive, but maybe the last pick I might ever need. The guys on the Fender Discussion Page are sold on them. I've been using Fender celluloids for decades now and recently picked up some Delrins from Picks By the Pound. Since reading more about them, I am more aware of the pick noise made by my current picks. If I like 'em, I can use the picks I have now to throw into the crowd.

Thanks Wayne. You just helped lower my bank account balance by $7.

I don't play with picks often, but I have quite the collection of them. I've always been one to try the more premium/custom maker type picks like this. What really sold me on these is that they're supposed to grip so well. I have an extremely hard time finding a pick I can really hold on to.
If these are durable, $4 is easily justified.
Anyone who has been here for long knows how I preach the importance of the pick (if you're using one). After all, it is part of your connection to the instrument and most definitely effects tone, feel, etc.

I prefer thinner picks, so I opted for one of the thins. I chose a round tip model because round tips typically offer a warmer sound than pointed tips (something I learned a long time ago).

I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on these when you get yours, Wayne. I'll post up mine too. I'm not sure what his shipping time is, since he is making these things himself from what I can gather.

Hmm... interesting. I'd be curious to hear some sound clips using a couple different picks back to back.

I'll probably end up getting one to try, but last time I used a pick larger than 1.0mm, I hated it. I have a box full of big stubbies that I used to use when I was new to guitar, and I just don't like my picks that thick anymore.

I've done that before with several picks. I don't have that file now though. If you don't mind it being on acoustic, I can do it again sometime. You might have to remind me.

I tried the Big Stubbies too. They look nice - and they were stiff, but that's about it. The material wears down so quickly. I remember one gig we had where I used one for the show. By the end of the show, my guitar had fine red dust all under the strings where I picked.

I've got 4 of them. They feel really nice and smooth, and they don't get chipped at all. Whats cool is that you get a noticably different tone from your guitar depending on which pick you're playing. It took me a while to get used to the thickness but they're the only picks that I use now.

I tried these last year and absolutely hated them. Good in situations where your dynamics get lost....heavy gain, etc, but the rest of the time...blah, too much pick noise.

I can't see myself using anything thicker than 0.7mm, and these picks seem to be all about thickness. Thick picks just don't let the tone "breathe" enough for me.

Thats my biggest irritation with them. I get this high pitched `chirping` sound every time I pick a note.

I can't use a pick under 1mm, so maybe these might work for me if I actually had some money.

Maybe some of you guys are overlooking the thinner one. The ultra light version I ordered is .5mm.

Which one(s) do you have? Can I take them off your hands - for a price, of course?

And Moon Boots, how did you solve the "chirping" problem?
