Hold Your Camera on an Angle

I'm not gonna lie, I stole this from here. Our wedding photographer did this a lot as well, and I really like the way some of them turned out. Usually I'm not a fan of tilted horizons, so this will be a challenge for me for sure. If anyone has better links for examples, feel free to post them.

Rules:

1) Photo must be taken in this time frame. No digging up old photos.

2) Please post entries either as a jpeg attachment or as a thumbnail no bigger than 500px wide with a link to the larger version if you want.

3) We will not exclude images based on conforming to the rules, but keep in mind that one of the things the image will be judged on is how well it shows this week's challenge subject.

4) To keep this thread simple and clean, if you don't want to enter and just want critique before an official entry, post it in the designated photography critique thread, not here. You can however discuss the subject or any entries here if you want.

5) You are encouraged to share your camera settings, shutter speeds, aperture, etc., but EXIF is not strictly required

Here are the entries (in no particular order). Voting should be based on technique, creativity, and how interesting the photo is while within the challenge's criteria. Voting will be open for one week after this posting, and the winner will be able to choose the next challenge. Voting for yourself is discouraged.

I was hoping we could vote for two pictures. Ah well.

I voted for Leboman. I love that picture. So... yeah. Maybe more later.

Man, this is the hardest one for me to vote on. So many great ones. Like Art said, I wish we had two votes for this one.

In the end I went with Art's. I love the angle, and the composition. It just looks so epic. It's like a portrait, but the angle of the shot just makes it pop. The brick background is interesting, but not distracting, and the shadows are beautiful. It really brings the statue to life, I think.

My other favourites were Lee's, Sarah's, and Surfer Dude's. And like I said, this was so hard to choose. I went back and forth a couple times, but yeah, I'm sticking with my choice

Art's was my favorite. Behind that was FTS, Leboman, and Surferdude.

So... some more thoughts from me.

My favorites were Mr. Leboman, FTS and Sarah. Leboman's just fit the mold of the contest perfectly. Plus, the image is just beautiful to me.

I felt like FTS' picture is just a good picture, but minimizes what the contest rules are. I like the picture a lot, but I feel like some others exemplify the rules a bit better.

Several of them, I just find kind of boring, which is definitely the risk you run with this particular competition. It is hard to choose a good subject for this, in my opinion.

That's why I didn't vote for some of the images, too. I didn't feel like they actually successfully showed the camera being angled.

I voted for Art's photo because out of all of the photos I think his is the best. This challenge was harder then I thought it would be.

I don't think I can pick just one. If we were allowed to vote for two, I'd still have trouble.

I loved Lee's when I saw it posted in his blog. Sarah's pic is great, too. I saw how Art was lining up his shot at the ballpark and knew it would come out good.

So yeah... I'll abstain from voting until the poll is about to be closed or something.

There were some good "angled shots", but I voted for surferdude's because it's an all around good shot. It was taken at an angle, but doesn't scream "hey! I was taken at an angle".

Ha, I never voted.

I will say, though, that my favorite image in general was Cody's. Beautiful lighting and colors.

But Art's was in fact more "angled", so probably fit the contest better.
