mandolin

is the mandolin easy or hard to play? what are some good beginner books?

what's the standard tuning?

Mel Bay First Lessons Mandolin Book would be a good starter. It's probably about as hard as learning the banjo.

I had no problem learning. It was easier than guitar for me. I never used a book or lesson. I did look up chords on the net though. Banjo was a little harder but still it wasn't too hard.
