I enjoyed the movie, but I completely agree with this. Ambiguity can go a long way, and when it seems like a writer is just using a character as a direct mouthpiece for a "message" -- rather than allowing the dialogue to spring naturally out of the characters and the story -- it sticks out and can (ironically) distract from the message they're trying to send.
