The Battle (RC)

I wrote this one half asleep last night. It seems a bit forced in some places because I kinda rushed it to get some opinions on how to work with it.

Anyway, I started out by writing along the lines of my current situation with a friend I had a falling out with recently and near the end it's where it went off on a different tangent. To me it works though because now it seems more like a song where it's come from a friend's point of view where he's had a falling out with a friend, patched everything up and then converted her to Christ. Not sure if that's how I want it to stay though, which is why an opinion would be good.

Enough babbling; here's my new song, The Battle.

Verse 1
I can't sleep knowing
You hold a grudge against me
I'm a man against an army
I can't wake knowing
My back's against the wall
And you're just gonna let me fall

Pre-Chorus 1
But I won't give up
No, I won't give in
I'll give it my all to find the reasons within

Chorus
Cause I know you're broken
From the things that I've said
And I know you'll fight
Through the battle ahead
But two syllables can note
The hurt and the shame
Regret for the worst
The anguish and pain

Verse 2
I can't stand here today
Knowing the reasons
They'll testify against me
I can't see the light at the end of this tunnel
As the judge slams the gavel
My light is blackened

Pre-Chorus 2
But I'm not giving up
Cause I still got a shot
Cause the One I put my faith in
Is givin' all He's got

Chorus
Cause I know you're broken
From the things that I've said
And I know you'll fight
Through the battle ahead
But two syllables can note
The hurt and the shame
Regret for the worst
The anguish and pain

Bridge
You saw through the façade
And You opened my heart to the inner me
I need You to set it free
You gave me one chance
Which I took with both hands, now I'll never look back
Cause you got me back on track

Pre-Chorus 3
I'm not ever giving up
Cause I waited it out
I saw it through the battle
And lived to tell about it
Yeah, I'm never giving up
Cause the war is far from gone
And the battles will continue
Cause the best is yet to come

Chorus
I'm gonna take to
The stand and today

I'm gonna turn my life around
It will all be okay
There's no need to worry
The tables have turned
The odds in my favour and I've nothing to lose

I guess the time's come
And we both know it's true
She's ready to give
All the glory to You
The war is now the was (?)
The present turns to past
The battle's been won
And it's now in the past!

Outro
The war is now the was (?)
The present turns to past
The battle's been won
And it's now in the past
(Spoken: "Alright, it's about time we call it a truce.")

Dude! Sorry! I just came across it.
Is there a tune? Where's the youtube?
The lyrics I like although there are a couple of places that I don't understand the message.

I have a MIDI track coming soon if that's good enough.

I've been fiddlin' around with a tune I have in my head. I'm gonna throw up a youtube of it. It would be interesting to me to compare the two (your tune and mine). I really like the lyrics. I've changed a couple of things around to make it fit better with my tune but not so as to change what your'e saying. If you find it offensive then let me know and I'll pull the vid. It's loading now. It will take a while.

So I haven't heard the MIDI yet but here's what I came up with. I wonder how close (or far away) it is to what you had?

It's not bad; certainly what I didn't have in mind. I'm a drop-tuning fan and I've planned to do Drop C# in the key of G. I was messing around with the main riff again and thought it might be easier to do it in Standard C# in the key of A though. Either way it should be pretty cool.

I would, but my music teacher has the USB it's on because it has the rest of my music. Tomorrow, most probably.

Well that was unexpected. I got Guitar Pro 5 during the week so I've started tabbing it again from scratch. I'm using the RSE function so it could take a bit longer again.

I didn't read them all, but some of them really stood out to me as very very good!

It would be nice to hear them with your arrangement of chords and melodies.

Thanks heaps.
I'm currently working on music with a friend of mine; we're trying to start a band. I might run over all these songs again when I get a tune for them again.

I need to write more. I've got some ideas for music but not words. I need some inspiration.

Instrumental

Just put something together recently. I know it's songwriting, but instrumentals are still songs.

I was going for a progressive-rock kind of feel with a Slash style solo, like in GNR's cover of "Sympathy For The Devil".

So...opinions?
