| True/False Tests Got this one from my professor this morning...
"Students always wonder why my tests never use True/False questions. Well, they used to. Three years ago, my exam was 100 True/False questions. Nothing extremely difficult, but all true False. Well, I had a student arrive halfway through the exam one year, and he looked to be in extremely bad shape. Apparently, one of his buddies had gotten engaged the night before and threw a big party. The student was extreme apologetic, but I could tell he really wasn't ready for the exam. Nonetheless, I gave him a copy, and he sat down to take it. Next time I looked up, I saw him flipping a coin. I watched, and sure enough, he was flipping a coin for every question. Anyway, time went on, and I announced when five minutes remained in the exam period. Frantically, my tardy student, whom I assumed had already finished his test, picked the exam back up and began to flip a coin at a frighteningly rapid rate. That was too much for me; I asked him what on Earth he was doing."
"Well, sir, I know we're running out of time, but I had to check my answers!" |
