The Boston cover is pretty good, as is the title track. The opening track struck me as being poorly mixed - the vocals are almost too up front, perhaps just my ears playing tricks.

I like how some of the songs pick up the different Stryper-era vibes - some sound like they could be off SUC, some are more polished like IGWT. still, a pretty good album. Alive is actually pretty moving, at first my eyes started rolling at another Stryper power-ballad but the melody is pretty good.
I had been downloading the songs from iTunes but still picked up a copy on Tuesday. I think it's their best (and strongest) album since To Hell With The Devil. Given the budget difference between those two...I can forgive some sonic shortcomings. I do agree that Eclipse Of The Son does have some production issues...but I bet it will rock in concert.

Alive really takes on a deeper meaning when you consider that he wrote it while watching his wife die. It is one of the most powerful songs on the album in my opinion.

My favorite tracks (so far) are:

4 Leaf Clover
Murder By Pride
Mercy Over Blame

Alive

Just over a month until I get to see Stryper live for the very first time. I'm slightly disappointed because the original plan for the tour has been changed. Originally there was going to be two sets featuring the two different line-ups of the band. Since the initial announcement, Tracy Ferrie (the current bassist) has had to pull out due to family obligations. So now there will only be one longer (1.5 hour) set instead of the two separate sets. The good thing is that the songs will be more blended now and will feature all four original members for the duration.

I was excited abour seeing Tracy live because he is an absolute beast on bass. Oh well...it's Stryper and it's going to rock.

Stryper tonight! Woo hoo. They're playing at Lifefest in Cary. Pillar, BarlowGirl, Superchic and Manic Drive are some of the other bands playing. I can't remember the entire lineup though. Michael Sweet Jr has a band (Flight Patterns) and they're playing too. I'm going with a couple of my buddies...should be a fun day.

There were some good bands in Cary yesterday...but Stryper showed every single one of them how it is done.

I still don't know how I like Murder By Pride, my only Stryper album, the music seems good, but I'm having a hard time tolerating the lead singer's voice. I want to accept it though, it's just that I would be going back on the many things i've said about these 80's sounding glam rock voices.

With peace on earth, good will to men.”
