Set up help

I know there have been a few threads on here about this, but I thought I would look for a little help as the comments seem very helpful. My band plays a lot of Christian covers and a few originals. I am looking for some ideas on making my sound a little more versatile. Our style is somewhat rockish, and we play covers for artist's like Casting Crowns, Chris Tomlin, Third Day, and a few others.

We do play in church on occasion, but primarily play for youth rallies with anywhere from 50-500 kids there. My current set up is my Fender American Deluxe through a Wah, TS9, J&H, Visual Sound H20 (don't love either sound with it), through a Fender HRDeluxe.

I am always miked and we have a really good sound guy, who typically runs our sound so that my amp usually serves as my own monitor. Neither he nor I like the HRD, so I am looking for amp help and any effect help. I don't need a lot of power, in fact the HRD is almost too loud sometimes.

Long story short, looking for a more versatile sound through effects or a modeler, and a reasonably priced single channel tube amp. My price range is $300-$800.

Thanks! (man that was long)

Also, I have a Visual Sound WHP and don't like it.

What about your sound right now do you feel like you're lacking in terms of versatility? Your setup isn't too unlike what I used to run on electric guitar (though I had a delay with tap tempo vs. your VS H2O) and I felt like I had a very versatile sound. Between your TS9, J&H and HRDlx you have over twenty different gain possibilities.

also, what's a WHP?

Your J&H works best with the amp that was developed by Visual Sound to work with it, the Workhorse Pony. It's what you want, I'm certain since I own one. I run my Digitech GNX3000 through it, which is a single channel clean amp. The J&H is meant to provide two other channels of OD and Distortion through this amp.

My other setup is the Digitech through a US Masters TVA30, mostly though the clean channel with the Digitech working as the preamp through the effects loop. Both of these amps will work well for you and are within your budget.

I actually have the Workhorse Pony amp. I didn't love the way it sound clean. With the J&H it sounds great.

Do you like the way your Digitech sounds through it? I used to run a Digitech through an Ampeg several years ago and loved it. I was thinking of going that route.

Yeah, I like my Digitech a lot and run it through either amp with good results. I liked the cleans so I only run the Digitech through the Pony and don't use the J& H at all. I actually use it straight into the board at church too, so there are three ways I use it. I like it in all venues and setups.
