Try the G Quiz

The G Quiz.

Try these questions.

1. What book was written by John Bunyan in 1666? It tells the story of his conversion and spiritual struggles until his call to the ministry.

2. What is the name of the revival that occurred in the American Colonies in the early 1740’s led mainly by George Whitefield? Many hundreds of thousands were converted. The revival only enhanced the deep theological divisions in the new world causing more fractions and sects.

3. Who was the Medical missionary to the North Atlantic? At first he established a hospital ship in the North Sea and later worked in Labrador and Newfoundland to establish hospitals, orphanages, schools and Agricultural colleges for the Eskimos and fishing communities.

4. Who was the French mystic. Born in Montangis and educated in convent schools. Her husband died when she was only 28, leaving her wealthy. She came under the influence of Pere Francois Lacombe a French monk he taught her Quietism that she introduced to south-eastern France. Her teachings brought opposition leading to her arrest. Louis XlV imprisoned her repeatedly and at last in the dreaded Bastille. Her life and writings led many to strive after a life of devotion and love to Christ.

5. What is the name of the Christian Calendar as reformed by Pope Gregory Xlll?

6. What is the name of the plant with large leaves for shade? Jonah shaded under one.

7. What was the wood that the Ark of Noah was made of. It may have been Cedar or Cypress. It is sometimes called ‘indestructible wood’.

8. Who was the British Prime Minister and Christian statesman. A regular Church attendee and Bible student. He found time to witness on the streets of London. He wrote The Impregnable Rock of Holy Scripture.

9. What was the name of the country east of the Jordan river. Given to the tribe of Reuben, *Gad and Half Manasseh. A hilly, richly wooded country. Jacob fled from Laban there.

10. What was the name of the English translation of the Bible. Printed in 1560. It was a small size, legible, Roman Type. It had notes, verse divisions. It was popular in Scotland until the Authorised Version.

Give them a try

Wow, that's really random. The only G female mystic I can think of was Guyon.

"No idea" and "Grendell" were wrong. I was close on "Grendell" though.
