Chris Tomlin Says Hello to "Hello Love"

Sept. 11, 2008…Nashville, TN… Having recently celebrated the RIAA Gold and Platinum Certification of two previous projects, Grammy nominated artist, Chris Tomlin says “hello” to his fifth studio album Hello Love being No. 1 on the iTunes ® Christian & Gospel Albums Chart and rose to No. 2 on overall iTunes ® Top Albums Chart, making it the highest charting debut for any album in the Christian industry. In addition, Hello Love (9/2/08) took the No. 10 spot on Billboard’s Top 200 Album Chart and sold more than 51,000 units in its first week alone.

“What an incredible summer,” says Tomlin. “My band and myself have spent most of the season on the Passion World Tour. When we arrived home we released our latest album, Hello Love, to a top 10 Billboard release! We're really happy that people are getting the new songs and pray the songs help them to voice their hearts to God in worship in a new way.”

It has been two years since the two-time GRAMMY Award nominated worship leader released his 2006 RIAA Gold-certified record, See The Morning, which sold an amazing 47,420 copies in its first week. Now the highly anticipated follow-up album Hello Love has gone above and beyond Tomlin’s past efforts to make this album one of the biggest releases this year.

"The sales success we have experienced for Hello Love is extraordinary in today’s music market and for that we are truly grateful," says President of EMI CMG Label Group, Peter York. "This is yet another milestone in Chris’s ministry that proves his songs continue to impact the global Church. We are thankful for our partnership with sixstepsrecords and for our continued role in supporting Chris’s music and ministry."

In addition to the astounding record sales, Hello Love is continuing to receive praise. An example can be seen in the Sept. 13 issue of Billboard Magazine, saying, “The first single ‘Jesus Messiah’ has all the earmarks of another Tomlin entry into the canon of the modern church. ‘You Lifted Me Out’ reinforces Tomlin’s credentials with solid AC/rock but is also the sole nod in an edgier direction.”

The man Time Magazine calls “the most often sung artist anywhere” is currently performing new songs and past favorites on Passion’s first world tour, just returning from South Africa, and still to hit Mexico City, Vancouver, Seoul, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Sydney. With six records, seven No. 1 radio singles, two GRAMMY nominations, 14 Dove Awards, one platinum and one gold album to his credit, Chris Tomlin is among the most well-known and influential artists in contemporary Christian music. Referred to by Time Magazine as “the most often sung artist anywhere,” Tomlin additionally has 10 Top 100 CCLI songs with 6 in the top 25. ASCAP’s 2007 Songwriter of the Year, Tomlin’s “How Great Is Our God” was his first No. 1 on the CCLI Top 25. The award-winning song moved to No. 1 after becoming one of the fasting rising modern day hymns in CCLI chart history. Tomlin continues to tour many dates every year and plays regularly at Passion Conferences in the States and worldwide.
