How?

I'm new to the electric guitar...how do you get the cool feedback heard near the beginning of "What If?" by Creed, or a similar feedback...or maybe it's not feedback at all...I don't know. I think Chris Tomlin does it at the beginning of "Salvation"...I can't think of any other examples right off the top of my head...sorry! Thanks!

Well I don't know about those songs but in general you get feedbak by placing the pickups of your guitar verry close to your amp speakers when you have high distortion on. this way works great on accoustics and less so on electrics.

A delay pedal that is set fast and has only a little delay and a lot of feedback

I think it works best when you pass it through a double gain. You don't have to be too close to your amp.

Wait... I just played the song and I think what you are talking about is that hit that sound like eee-eeee (that is how I would sing it). They actually do it throughout the song right? That is actually harmonics. They use harmonics a lot.

"jmlouie" is right.....they're harmonics....i play them on the 5th and 3rd frets....(5th for the low....3rd for the high)....just listen to the song to get the order and timing
