iTunes Join Tracks

How can I join existing tracks in iTunes? I know it can be done with CD tracks, but what about existing tracks?

I want to combine "Us and Them" and "Any Colour You Like" on my Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon album (and also "Brain Damage" and "Eclipse").

I have the "Gapless Album: Yes" option selected, but still. I want them to be one single track.

Can the same be done in reverse? Say, if I wanted to split up "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" into each of the 9 parts, rather than 1-5 and 6-9 as it exists?

you need an audio editing program to combine the two songs into one song.

And you won't be able to do it from the itunes files. You would need to burn them and then rip them again as mp3s or wavs because of the DRM in itunes files.

This is slightly misleading depending on the context. This is only an issue with purchased music from the iTunes store in AAC format that is not DRM free "iTunes Plus". If you just ripped an existing CD, or obtained DRM-free tracks, you don't need to burn and rerip just because it was in iTunes. I know you didn't mean that, but your wording was very vague and could be misleading. Just because it is an "iTunes file" doesn't mean you have to burn and re-rip, only if they are purchased, DRM files.

And also, Audacity would be a perfect program for combining or splitting files.

Correct, sorry. Didn't mean to be vague.
