I would say I'm excited, but Hollywood has a way to taking great anti-state (either leftist or libertarian) visions of the future and domesticating them. We've seen so many "dark future" movies that we've as a culture been a bit inoculated to them. Yes, we get it. Human achievement is good. Ignoring the plight of others is bad. Ceding power to our governments either as right wing fascism or left wing communism is dangerous.
That said, this could be an intelligent entry into that field. I share many of Vonnegut's sentiments (though he did sue my uncle!) so I hope for a good adaptation of the story of Harrison Bergeron (of course, I share many of Moore's anarchist sentiments, and V of Vendetta was ruined, so I won't be naive).

| I'm not familiar with this particular piece of work, but if it's like the other Vonnegut I've read, I'm not sure how well it will translate to film. I say this as a Vonnegut fan who wants it to work, I think.

| Very intriguing trailer. I haven't read the book, but I will definitely keep an eye on this one; I'm a sucker for a good dystopia (ha!). |

| Looks very interesting, though I am not familiar with the original work. I really need to read more books. |

| I also haven't read any Vonnegut, and I'm sure I'll see the movie well before I read the book (I know, I know... for shame!), but from what I could tell, it looked like an incredible story. The problem with dystopian future adaptations is that it's hard to communicate the inner struggle going on in the characters. Usually that's the best part of a dystopian future book, and even movies that do it well (i.e. Blade Runner, in my opinion) still fall well short of the book.

I've never read this particular story but I would count myself as a fan of Vonnegut based on the three books I've read. Not sure if I'm looking forward to this or not. |
