An Idea....

Maybe this will work. It seems that we have a bunch of threads all the time about 'What car should I get?'

Maybe we should do something similar to what the guitar forum did, but in here. Meaning that we compile a list of what everyone drives, so questions could be asked of current drivers about their specific car.

Yes? No?

..just a thought....

Sounds peachy to me.

Could we list not only what we currently drive but what we have previous owner experience with?
Not "I drove a Mustang once and it SUCKED!" but "I owned an '83 Honda Civic once and it nearly put me in the poor house because of it's dubious reliability".

I'd suggest a form that rates ownership from 1-5 on performance, economy (fuel, maintenance, etc), ergonomics, etc.

We should probably also direct buyers to sites like edmunds.com or Car & Driver Online. Enabling the consumer to obtain concise information would help a lot.

Edmunds.com has some useful info also.

So are we going to start it in this thread?

I have a huge deal of experience on Mitsubishi 4g63 platforms ('90 - '99 Turbo models). I can pretty much take you from changing the oil and spark plugs down to rebuilding the whole engine, how to retro fit other parts (i.e. bigger turbo's, fuel systems, ECU's, etc )
Also on the Mitsubishi 6G72 platform (3000GT Twin Turbo, Dodge Stealth TT) i've rebuilt one of those from the block up as well.
And lastly, the Ford Foxbody-SN95 5.0's. I've dinked around with those a bit too.

A thread about my Eclipse? I'd love to do that. I even have a couple videos of her when I took it to the track.

I love the DSM's, always have. They do have thier own quirks though, lol. You guys are probably no strangers to that though. You know, the constant Idle air speed control problem which can only be remedied with another throttle body, unless you dont mind the car bouncing the idle from 1k-2.2k constantly. Hopefully you guys all sidestepped the crank walk landmine.

Other than that, all my DSM's were pretty nice to me. I put them thru thier paces too.

Sadly, I had to sell any kind of car that could, in any way, be seen as something with class, style, power or any hope of self respect after having my first kid. My wife is an at home mother, so we eek by on one income.

I should post some pics up of my former cars and then what we drive now Talk about a change, lol.

Ordinary Sarah said something, in a different post, to the effect of "I will only drive this type of car, ive kinda turned into a car snob..." And theres nothing wrong with that.... I used to be the same way. Lol, my wife and I were starting to get into the " I only drive top end Honda's, Lexus's, Acura's, BMW, etc."

Boy, things change fast when children change your views on what's important
