| I was talking to a friend of mine at work who speaks French and saw the interview where Bernard said that and he told me that the US media is really blowing it out of proportion to make a bigger story out of it. According to him, the manner in which Bernard spoke was very tongue-in-cheek, not like a Nikita Khrushchev clone as the media has portrayed it. |

| Cocky? I give you the height of cocky, Mr Gary Hall Jr, 2000 Olympics in the 4x100 relay as well if I remember right, talking about the Australian team: "We will smash them like guitars".
Australia won the final, and aptly celebrated with a good bit of air guitar.
Mr Hall is one of the most arrogant athletes, and for him as well to have come out and cast doubt over the legitimacy of Eamon Sullivan's 100m record from the relay, it's just not needed or in the interests of the Games. No-one cares anymore Gary

| The guy breaks the 100m freesyle record, and no-cares? I beg to differ.
I just get frustrated with unnecesary gamesmanship, if that's the idea here. I just think it's more that Hall knows he gets an audience every time he opens his trap. Shame he puts his foot in it every time...
But apart from that, the Games have been good so far. The equestrian was pretty exciting to watch, and that's not a fave of mine at all. And the synchronised diving, that's impressive.

No-one cares anymore Gary | Yes what he said was cocky, but if we're gonna measure cockiness what the Frenchman said is just as cocky in my book. No,we dont need stuff like that in the games, but both comments were equally cocky.

He was quite impressive in my opinion, though. |

Sullivan set it on the 11th, lost it to France's Alain Bernard on the 13th and took it back just a few minutes later. Unless something has happened since then, it looks like Sullivan still has the record at 47.05 seconds. |

Also, the Aussie women were GREAT in the 4x200 free. Very impressive. |
