Obviously story matters, but people are going to see this movie for the concept. A solid story will make it a movie people love or leave disappointed. But really people are going for the concept. That's what the trailers are promoting. Explaining a nerdy comic book plot isn't going to do the film any favors. |

| Every time I have any sort of negative thought about this movie, I remind myself of two simple words: Joss Whedon. It makes me feel all better. |

| I swear, if this movie turns out to be horribly written . . . . . . I'll probably still love it . . . |

The scene at the end of Thor seems to set up what we see in The Avengers, more than an unknown Thor sequel.
But I like the idea anyway.
Obviously some time has passed since the end of Thor. And still the question of where is Ms. Portman?

| She's not in the Avengers, obviously. Part of the reason why I believed (and still sort of do) the Avengers takes place after Thor 2 is Thor's promise to return to her. If he's back on earth, even if it's to do work in the Avengers, then logic says he'd make an effort to see her. Since we know Portman isn't in the Avengers, that means Thor doesn't see her, which, if the Avengers takes place directly after the first Thor movie, it just doesn't mesh with the storyline.
I've seen the trailer and I'm totally stoked to see the Avengers. It's probably one of the top two films I'm most excited for this summer.

It is based on the Marvel Universe after all.
Where there can be three Hulks.
(Or are there more? I've lost track). |

| Lol, who knows. I just hope that if the Avengers does take place directly after the original Thor that they offer a good explanation as to why Thor isn't seeing his love like he promised he would.

And now it's finally upon us!
Though I may not be able to go till later this month. |

| Anyone else going to a mid-night showing?
For me personally, I'm excited to see the movie because it looks like a ton of fun, but really I'm more excited to see Joss Whedon finally get TRUE mainstream success. |

| One critic has already called it the best superhero movie of all time. That's some hype.
I'm pondering going to a midnight showing tonight. Maybe a first showing tomorrow morning. I definitely want to see it in XD. |

| I bought midnight tickets two weeks ago, and have a group of at least 7 going. Release day coincides oh-so-perfectly with the end of our college semester, so it's a fantastic way to celebrate.
I'm dressing up - it will involve a fair amount of grooming and lots of ["face"] paint....

When you call anything with harsh vocals "screamo", it makes as much sense as calling anything with distorted guitar "heavy metal". |
