A year and a half later we finally have the answer.

Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.),
Captain America (Chris Evans),
Thor (Chris Hemsworth),
Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson).

i am cautiously optimistic about this movie. i am just worried that the characters will not be more than the sum of their parts.

as a marvel fan, i want this movie to knock it out of the park.

Hah! When I saw this thread, I was thinking about that other Avengers movie based off the 60s British TV show (or at least was suppose to be, but turned out to be a completely bad movie).

Did you guys know that when the Nostalgia Critic reviewed it, he totally thought he was gonna reviewing the Marvel Avengers movie early. XD You guys should check out the review.

I remember when I first saw that on HBO when I was a kid. That scene with Sean Connery and the teddy bears meeting was just friggin hilarious.

I also love this line by Doug when he comments on Sean Connery dressed as a bear:

"My Gosh! I must alert Andy Panda and Winnie the Pooh immediately!"

There's also a cute Disney's Gummi Bears reference thrown in there.

Given the ending of THOR, I'm wondering how Thor is even back on earth, or if that will even be explained in this movie.

Natalie Portman/Jane Foster isn't listed as cast, and you'd think if Thor made it back to Earth, she'd be first on his list of people to see.

Part of me wonders if The Avengers actually takes place after what will be THOR 2. After all, Thor's hair is much longer in The Avengers, so maybe that's to show that some time has passed since THOR and to allow for the possibility of THOR 2 being inserted in between THOR and The Avengers.

All just conjecture . . .

Of course ideally this would be explained better, but sometimes casting conflicts/budgetary reasons means they have to resort to using the old one-line-of-dialogue-to-fix-everything trick."

"It's a good thing we invented the doodamaflatchie so I could get back to Earth. Oh, and I broke up with that girl, 'cause she was real mean."

Though this could be cool.

I like the theory of the Avengers taking place after Thor 2. It'll be interesting if this comes to fruition. And I agree, Thor looks a lot different in the Avengers. Given the ending of Thor, it would make sense that the Avengers takes place after Thor 2.

As for the trailer, it looks great. I was in Cleveland back in August and actually saw the set (they filmed some of the NYC scenes in Cleveland). It all looked great back then and looks excellent in the trailer (though having saw the set, I can tell from the trailer what was not really shot in NYC, but this isn't evident to other people). I'm definitely excited about this movie.

It wasn't bad, but all it seemed to do was confirm the movie is what it is. The trailer confirms that the avengers will assemble to battle a big bad guy, they will banter, and there will be big action sequences. I think we knew all of that the day before the trailer came out.

...and I still don't get the new Captain America suit.

I suspect I'll be treating it as though it's another iron man movie, that happens to have more additional superheroes than normal. Stark's likely to have all the best lines.

Also, why is chrome trying to convince me that movie isn't spelt correctly?

Based on the trailers I still have no idea what is going on in this movie. Maybe that's a sign that there's not much going on in the movie.
