Photo Challenge #11: 7/16-7/30

Abstract

The challenge is to take a photo of something that might normally be recognizable, but take it in an abstract way. What exactly the photo is of should not be easily recognizable, though I think there can be a little leeway in terms of recognizability if it's apparent the intent was the abstract composition of the photo. Remember, this is first and foremost a challenge. If you think this isn't your thing so you won't participate, you're missing the point. Try it anyways. Challenge yourself.

One specific ground rule for this challenge: Taking a photo of an already abstract piece of art does not count.

Rules:

1) Photo must be taken in this time frame. No digging up old photos.

2) Please post entries either as a jpeg attachment or as a thumbnail no bigger than 500px wide with a link to the larger version if you want.

3) We will not exclude images based on conforming to the rules, but keep in mind that one of the things the image will be judged on is how well it shows this week's challenge subject.

4) To keep this thread simple and clean, if you don't want to enter and just want critique before an official entry, post it in the designated photography critique thread, not here. You can however discuss the subject or any entries here if you want.

5) You are encouraged to share your camera settings, shutter speeds, aperture, etc., but EXIF is not strictly required.

I was under the impression that the winner of the previous photo challenge created the next challenge but didn't participate in it. Reasoning being: wouldn't the good people just keep winning over and over again therefore not really allowing other people to participate in making up challenges?

That is not how it has worked so far. Historically, the "good people" have not won over and over. I've won, and I am among the lesser photographers here.

In theory, yes, but as Art said, historically, that hasn't been the case. I can speak for myself in that I don't even always have the motivation to enter every contest, so me somehow dominating every one from now on is unlikely, let alone the fact that I probably have a losing record as it is (though I haven't been keeping track).

I can also speak towards the other entries so far, and I feel like I'd probably vote for at least one of them over my own, even if it weren't frowned upon to vote for yourself. I think all the others have a pretty good chance of winning too.

For the record, if I did win, I had one other theme in mind that I didn't choose for this one that I would probably pick for the next challenge, but I wouldn't enter it myself.
