| That's because I try to post when I have something interesting or humorous to say...I don't think you want to read about my day to day activities...But your sister has informed me that I am not very interesting...so perhaps tonight I will come up with something good. If I can't then I will post something double-plus un-good in order to appease the masses.

| Talking about your day and making it interesting is an art. You're either really good at it, or you crash and burn.

In elementary school I was always that one kid...you know the one. The only kid in the entire class that HATED art class. I would always draw/paint/sculpt/whatever something, then halfway through I would get pissed at how it didn't look anything like I wanted it to. But for some reason I always loved photography and music.

| The first thing I had to learn since being in Art school is that translating a 3D world to a 2D medium is extremely difficult and takes a whole lot of practice. We are used to interpreting things in 3D, with two eyes, and preconceived expectations of how things actually are as opposed to how they actually appear. Photography is a bit easier because you don't have to do much to get your subject in 2D, and there's not much you can do to make it look wacky. With drawing and painting and sculpting... if you don't have the ability to throw out what you know and instead use what you actually see, you're pretty much screwed, and all your work will look waaaay different from how it actually looks in your head.
It's all very interesting, imo. But also frustrating, when I keep failing drawing.

| Well...I have finally decided that I will soon be leaving Arizona for good to return back "home" (at least for the time being) early next month. Honestly though I can't say that I am too excited overall about the prospect.
I feel as though this will truly mark the end of my childhood. I have pretty much run out of excuses for staying here and avoiding real life. College is supposed to be an escape from the clutches of parents, a chance to learn who you really are and to form your own opinions about life. However it also serves as a final chance to do all of those irresponsible things that are always sitting there in the back of your mind. In the former respect I feel that I have done fairly well...however, in the latter I feel as though perhaps I have missed an opportunity. Perhaps it was the way my parents raised me. If that is the case, then I can't really complain...they raised a responsible kid who plans ahead and avoids trouble...I can think of worse tendencies to exhibit.
I vaguely remember feeling similarly as I left for college four years ago...Worried that I would not hear from my friends anymore, that I wouldn't see the beautiful sights of the Northwest for sometime. I guess I was wrong there, I will be back to roaming around Seattle on my days off and sailing with some friends much sooner than I planned.
Part of me is displeased by that idea however...It seems like a step backward. I always expected to graduate college, maybe spend a month in limbo, then have employers clamoring over me...my only worry being where in the country life would take me. Instead, my $150,000 education has left me planning on moving back in with my parents and hoping that some mom and pop company needs a pilot so that I can make the minimum payments on my student loans.
I find it funny how much ones opinions of something can shift while facing change. I remember when I first got to college how exciting it was, every late night playing risk an emotionally charged battle, every delivered pizza a treat. Soon it degraded to monotony... the one theatre town with nothing to do, inhabited by crabby old people who tried to kill you should you attempt to drive anywhere. Then, as senior year began and it sank in that I was almost done, there was things to do here, fun to be had again. Now that it is time to leave, part of me doesn't want to...for fear that those memories and the fun will be lost.
Part of me knows that I am being irrational...I don't handle moving well. But another part of me is worried that soon I will be out of chances...That the fun to be had will be inhibited by the wisdom of age.

| Change is hard. And things don't always turn out how we expected or envisioned them to. Don't worry, though... I'm sure that there are still a lot of great things for you to experience. Different things, yes, but also great.
Also, I hope you like your new blog title.

| It appears as though I will be leaving Arizona on Tuesday, possibly never to return. The good news is that I passed another checkride today, which should hopefully make the job search a little easier.

| Thanks...
I am currently back home in WA. I don't often get the chance to use the net here so I probably wont be posting much for the next few weeks...I am still looking for a job. I sent applications to a few more places...Hopefully I will hear back soon.
