Photoshop Elements would be a great piece of software to switch to. It's not terribly expensive and it has many of the best features of Photoshop in an easy-to-use interface.
GIMP is pretty good too. Not as user-friendly as Photoshop Elements, I thought, but it does *most* of the same stuff. And it really doesn't take a lot of comp space. It was pretty fast on my comp, and I have a slooooow computer, with little space left.
I have never been a GIMP fan... I just don't find its interface very intuitive. That's just me, though. It has an impressive list of features, I will say.
