I'm looking for up beat stuff kinda rock but not like hard rock... um we have thought about some third day stuff and kutless strong tower but thats as far as we've gotten... so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Consider that much of Kutless' Strong Tower was covers of pre-existing songs and work from there. Just about any worship song can become a modern rock track with the right arrangement.

The Choir Beautiful Scandalous Night is a really good song. (The Lost Dogs, Smalltown Poets and Sixpence None The Richer with Bebo Norman have also recorded the song).
Here's an example:

Go on up to the mountain of mercy
To the crimson perpetual tide
Kneel down on the shore
Be thirsty no more
Go under and be purified

Follow Christ to the holy mountain
Sinner, sorry and wrecked by the fall
Cleanse your heart and your soul
In the fountain that flows
For you and for me and for all

I don't think I've ever heard it in church, though.

Really, anything from the City On A Hill albums are good.

Hi Hawk,

In the youth group that I am allowed to minister in, as part of the youth/young adult P&W group, we have the following songs in rotation for what we do (these are the ones off the top of my head)

Praise:

Trading My Sorrows
Happy Song
Beautiful One
Friend of God
Who is Like the Lord (not the Israel one, but older.)
Can't Stop Praising His Name (Jesus) by Ron Kenoly - Sounds great when you use a lot of double bass drum
Heart of Worship (the Chris Daughtery version)
The Noise We Make
God of Wonders
Show Me Your Glory
You're Worthy of my Praise (Jeremy Camp version)
Lord I Lift Your Name on High (We always set it to Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama", as it's the same chords for both songs)

Worship:

Breathe
Shout to the Lord
Better is One Day
Without You (by Poor Man's Riches)
Strong Tower
Holy of Holies (we typically do the orig. version as opposed to the Kutless version)
Faith Like That (by Jonah 33)
Potters Hands
Take My Life (Holiness)
Hungry (Falling on My Knees)
Freedom

Working on:
How Long (Spoken)
Further (Pillar)

I'm missing about 20 songs, mostly worship. I just can't think of the names of the songs at the moment. Most songs are done in some sort of rock/hard rock way.

Christian City Church of Oxford Falls (C3) is really good and really under rated.

Worship

Eddie James and anything that IBC does is always a great idea along with Gateway Bible College I'm not crazy about GBC but they do some good stuff they have totally great idea's.

But I was gonna give you a piece of advice I've been the Youth Music Director at my Church for about a year now and I don't know all about it yet but I recently instated a pre-service prayer required for everyone taking part in service in any way. It has greatly help me individual but God has also been moving in our service stronger and were seeing more and more people saved and following the plan of salvation and youth getting a hunger from God and God moving in more powerful ways.

It's important for those that are partaking in leading the service to set the example of prayer b4 service. For a couple of reasons 1) it sets the example because the house of the Lord Should be a house of Prayer 2) It gives individual's that actually pray to get intune with God and hear from God. 3) It helps in my opinion bring those that are on our platform and behind our pulpit into unity. 4) And lastly is what I think is most important it weeds out the individuals that are there for God's glory and their own those who are willing to humble themselves and pray before service instead of just goofing off after a brief run through of the music.

So I kinda rambled but I just wanted to pass you a few words of advice take them or leave them as you wish.

Oh and P.s. a quick prayer b4 and after practice and b4 service as a worship team also helps bring the worship team into unity I've found.

From the inside out -Hillsong United

I heard The church band play this at elmbrook church, it's an amazing song!

God of Wonders by Chris Tomlin is also good.

But Third Day has a good version of this song too. The only difference is Chris Tomlin plays with the capo on the first fret when Third Day plays with it on the third, both in standard tuning.
