Should I buy a Rhodes?

Well? They're big and heavy, a hassle to maintain, and kind of a one trick pony. But I've wanted one forever, and there are a couple of good deals right now. I'm most worried about the big, heavy, and maintenance issues. I love the sound.

They're so gorgeous! I've always wanted one, and was seriously considering getting one for a while back, as well.

I hear you can learn to tune and maintain them yourself, I have a friend who uses one gigging pretty often, and he doesn't seem to have too much trouble with his. You just have to "get to know" your particular instrument and how it acts when you get it.

I love the sound also, but not enough to lug one around to gigs. My Roland Keyboard does a pretty decent job of emulating one, the difference isn't enoough to make me want to have to deal with the issues associated with something that old, heavy, and inflexible.

yeah...I would love it, but it's just too much to carry around and store these days. Maybe a Nord Electro will make me happy...hmm.

YES PLZ to the Nord Electro :P

I'd love a Rhodes some day... maybe for my home studio... but I think it would be a pain to haul around for gigs.
