So I decided that a complete cleaning of my guitars was in order, including new strings, a fret dress and fretboard cleaning. I did this after I had to clean up the "new" MIJ Fender Jazz Bass Special I picked up. I noticed the fretboard needed cleaning so I took off the strings and the neck and polished all the frets with steel wool and cleaned up the fretboard all nice and shiny. It's amazing how much polished frets do for the neck of the guitar. I started with my favorite, the 50th Anniversary, so, one down and something like seven to go... The MIJ Contemporary is next.

I agree that polished frets make a big difference. They are nicer visually and bending strings is smoother.
I made a quick repair on a relative's electric guitar recently and the frets were level but a little rough. Bends on that guitar were just not what they should be. She's a drop D rhythm player though, so I guess it doesn't matter to her.

I hope you feel better soon, Wayne....or maybe not for the sake of your guitars.

Thanks guys. Yes, polishing the frets also smooths out the grooves on the frets caused by playing wear. Well, the MIJ and the James Burton Tele got the treatment yesterday. However, I stayed home today again (I think the guitars are happy).
