well if you're using a motorcycle engine, you're going to have a sequential shifter which isn't a bad thing, trust me. I'd consider going to a foot clutch and then a hand shifter, trying to clutch & shift with your hands isn't my idea of a good time really.

That's my current plan... it's also what the guy in the video has. (warning there is quite a bit of innapropriate language used)

this explains kinda what it is and how it all works (it also shows how he shifts)
YouTube - one cool motorcycle powered dune buggy to test at davidsfarm

and on this one I would skip to about 4 minutes
YouTube - motorcycle dunebuggy first drive 2009

on this one I would skip to about 2:20
YouTube - motorcycle dunebuggy does skyhill and mudding

Here is my first go-kart. I just took it on it's first test run using a 2hp 109cc engine and it could go 25-30mph. I'm waiting for parts to come in the mail to fix a 9hp 270cc gokart racing engine I have... it should be great.

Might want to weld a roll cage of sorts onto that...

I don't think so...

it probably wont go much over 45-50mph when it's done. Besides it's so low and wide that I doubt you could flip it if you wanted to.

When I make that shifter kart/ dunebuggy thing with a motorcycle engine and trans it will definitely have a rollcage.

Honestly, with a human in the driver's seat I think it'd be too top heavy, it doesn't really look all that wide. It's got a long wheelbase, yes, but it's pretty narrow.

I still think you are wrong, but once it's done if it seems that rolling it would be a legitimate possibility then I would definitely add a rollbar... however I don't want to do all that work and/or add any extra weight if I don't have to. It already weighs 150lbs and I'm another 180lbs so its power to weight ratio isn't very good.
