Tetelestai
I had kinda moved away from worships songs for awhile because I think they're hard to write without getting really cliche... I'm afraid this one might be (let's face it, there's kinda a limited spectrum of things to sing about in church. Not necessarily a bad thing, just makes it hard to be original haha).
Tetelestai is the greek for "It is finished." In my opinion, those three words (in English, 1 in greek) comprise the greatest utterance this world has ever known. With those three words, we are set free. With those three words, victory is complete and death is no more. With those three words, we are forever more blameless in the sight of God. With those three words, God died as our one and only sacrifice to satisfy a debt that we owed HIM. I suppose you could argue that "I AM" is the most powerful, but the finality of the words "it is finished" encompasses "I AM" in my mind.
Anyway, that's the theological portion of this note haha. Now to the music. I'll post a vid sooner than later, I'm having a hard time figuring out how to cut down on background noise and it's bothering me >

.
As always, critiques are appreciated.
Verse 1
I've always wondered
If the sun would have risen that day
If it had known
That soon all would fade to gray
That in a few hours
The world would look away
As the son of morning's light
Died in humble display
Chorus
It is finished
He has done it
Love has saved the day
It is finished
He has won us
Life has swallowed the grave
Verse 2
I've always wondered
If the world was slow to wake
And if the sky just shut its eye
And quaked
And who could blame them
If the creatures sat in wait
Sensing death and victory
So great
Pre-Chorus
Then came a cry
Tetelestai
It is done!
-Chorus-
Bridge
(Ok, here I envision three layers of vocals)
1. We thank you for the blood (repeat twice, then start the next layer and keep repeating)
2. Christ has died and
Christ is risen
Christ will come again
(Chorus from Charlie Hall's "Mystery")
3. My chorus again in the background

I feel this is a pretty self explanatory song, but I'll go ahead and say a little something.
Too often we have favorite quotes or say we believe something (like the Bible), and we quote the living bajeebus out of it or write it in a scrap book or note of encouragement (or my personal favorite, facebook quotes section), but we never do anything else with it.The words stay trapped between those four little hash marks that supposedly denote some sort of significance to the sentence, but whatever importance the words have is never realized through our actions. As a result, the words die a messy death of ink and lead as they are endlessly and meaninglessly transcribed over and over again.
Do something about it.
Verse 1
How many times
Have I read the words standing
On the page in front of me
How many times
Have I thought to myself
"Oh what a life that I could lead
If only I kept one or two, maybe three
Of these things in mind"
Chorus
I wanna live my life outside the quotation marks
To make these words come alive in the story of my life
To be a doer not just a reader, or hearer, or see-er... whatever it is
I want to live
Outside the quotation marks
Verse 2
How many times
Have I heard someone say something
And said "Hey wait, that's pretty great"
How many times
Have I said I'd do one thing
And done something other than
What I wanted to do
Oh the words in my mind
They're so confined
-Chorus-
Bridge
Given time
Maybe I'll find the words played out in my life
Given time
I hope that I'll find the words played out in my life
Instrumental
-Chorus-

Believe that you are sent to the corners of the earth for God? Do it. Even if your corner of the earth is the street corner a block from your house.
Believe the early bird gets the worm? Don't procrastinate. (or, drag your lazy butt out of bed at 8 in the morning to go to the gym [which SUCKS might I add haha])
Believe an eye for the eye makes the world goes blind? Believe we're to love others, treat others right, love the one you're with, love your life in all its highs and lows, and all those other cliches? LIVE it.
If a picture's worth a thousand words, and a picture is a mere still shot of an infinitesimal moment in time and space, think how many words your actions are worth. Think what your life is worth.
