Sheltie... or miniature Border Collie as they are sometimes called.

I love shelter dogs. I love all dogs.

I have 2 small dogs (5ish lbs), but I love large dogs. I especially love Pit Bulls. They have a bad name that they don't deserve. They're rad, smart, loving dogs with an adorable face.

I also love all belgian shepherds (malinois, tervuren).

No. A sheltie is sometimes called a mini "collie", referring to the rough-coated collie (e.g. Lassie).
This is a border collie. This is a rough-coated collie.

*sigh*

Nothing's wrong with mutts.
Doxies are sweet, but be aware that they can have many health problems. As for bulldogs...RAD dogs. They need alot of stimulation & exercise & you need to be careful if you have a taller dog, such as a lab.

I love all animals including dogs as well. My puppies are my babies, and if you read my journal... it talks a lot about dogs, puppy mills...etc

Did you know by buying from a pet store.. you are buying from a puppy mill and supporting them? If you don't know what a puppy mill is, google it and look at the pictures. If you're not into graphic stuff ... don't google it and look at the pictures.

I have a mini collie/toy poodle mix. His name is Teddy Bear (I named him). He is precious and is about 8lbs at a little over 4 months old. I also have another puppy that is 5 months old, he is a Miniature Pinscher/Chihuahua mix. His name is Hunter (hubby-to-be named him). He's about 5/6lbs.

Also, I'm fostering a dog right now named Shadow... he is a Terrier mix of some sort. My guess is that he has Schnauzer in him. He was abused by previous owners, and had been given a broken rib at that time as well. So he's actually very well mannered. He's gentle. He listens extremely well. I've never seen such a good dog in my life. Honestly.

We're bringing him to his new family this weekend (Friday) ... he will be going with my hubby-to-be's mother, step-dad, and little sister. They will love him.

I honestly don't care if people are into graphic pictures or not. Puppy mills are awful. Plain & simple. I don't care if it makes you disgusted, cry, vomit, etc. THAT is the point. It should. Just telling you how awful a puppy mill is isn't going to make it sink it.

If you click this, however, you do have the option to NOT see graphic images or to see them. Your choice...click :Puppy Mills.

Besides the fact that puppy mills are horrible, and pet stores don't treat their puppies well, there are FAR too many dogs in shelters who need loving homes.

Sorry, I think people SHOULD see stuff like this, I'm just not sure how old some of the kids on here are. I think they should see it, but I would not want to tell someone to look at that stuff and have their guardian behind them and seeing that, and realizing that a christian forum told the kid to go to that.. and then them get banned from the computer.

Puppy Mills are places that keep dogs upon dogs, treat the parents terrible, they have tiny cages. Sometimes 3 dogs per cage and they can barely move, they live in their own feces, and the most that they will do is slide a tiny metal plate into the cage for the puppy to stand on (they cannot move around and get the proper excercise) the reason they do this is so the puppies legs do not go through the wired cage and break--because then they are unable to sell them and make a profit. Approx. 11,000 dogs/puppies a day die in Puppy Mills. There is absolutely NO DEMAND for anymore dogs, or puppy mills--we have too many that need homes, but by buying from a pet store.. you are making a demand for the puppy mill to have more puppies to sell to these pet stores. The authorities know about puppy mills, but they don't TRY and stop them... if they have evidence and someone reports something and they look into it and find something worth stopping the puppy mills, they will close it down, but there are so many... it's getting unreal.

PLEASE, if you ARE NOT a breeder, get your animals spayed/neutered. ALSO, please try not to buy from pet stores. They over price their dogs and most of the time they end up with birth defects because of in-breeding, and the condition of the parents..etc. My hubby-to-be, he had bought a puppy from a pet store and realized he had no time for it so his grandparents took it. She had to have her knees looked into because she had a birth defect. My step father had a great dane he bought from a pet store... and it lived a week and then was put dow due to having parvo.

Also, Puppy Mills treat their dogs like LIVESTOCK. They are not livestock! They AUCTION off their dogs when they are no longer able to re-produce or if something is wrong with them, which is when shelters usually rescue them and go undercover in these auctions to bust puppymills. Don't support them.

My wife has a daschund, which is a good dog, but it's unlikely we'll get another of that breed. Those weiners are a lot of dog.

I have a mutt...some sort of rat-type dog. Not really sure. We picked her up from a shelter and couldn't be happier, she is a fantastic dog.
