id really to have either a pit bull or an English bulldog. pits are mean and English bulldogs are expensive so neither one will probably happen lol

I have a Pembroke Welsh Corgi (Jet) and an Australian Shepherd (Fly). I also like mixes, German Sheperds and Border Collies. But I like pretty much every kind of dog.

Hubby-to-be loves German Sheps. . . and a friend loves bulldogs.

Hubby's uncle has an American Bulldog. Bronx. What a beautiful dog.

And here is a sheltie named Lars who lives at my place.

Like the Pirate said, Shelties look like Rough Collies, but they're half the size, have a slightly different face structure and they're smarter.

Anyone else have a Sheltie who sleeps with its eyes open? Our dog just started doing that this week.

We've had several Australian Cattle Dogs -- Blue/Red Heelers.

We've got a pup now, pictures on my flickr:

dogs are just so-so in my opinion, i mean, i love my friends' dogs, but would never really want one of my own. but, if i did have a dog, i would certainly get a mixed. not only are they easy to find, but they usually live longer, aren't prone to any diseases, and they usually are smarter.

Pitbulls are not usually mean dogs, but you probably will not be able to get homeowners' insurance with one. People need to examine why they want a particular breed of dog (being able to brag about whatever it is, is one of the worst reasons to get one), and what their lives are like, as some dogs need more attention than others. Dogs are pack animals, and many of them need to be with you a lot. I have an American Bulldog/boxer mix, and he can be very challenging. I don't like to think what life would be like if we thought we could just leave the dog in the back yard for hours a day, go about our business, and all would be well. The dog has become a family member, and he and I have logged many hours in obedience and agility classes and practice/training at home. Still, I must constantly be vigilant to maintain dominance, and require his obedience. If you aren't willing and able to do this, DON"T GET ANY DOG.

German Shepherds, Huskies, and Malamutes are my favorites ... I'm not really a fan of little dogs.

Both eyes at once? Or one at a time?

One at a time could be a possible demonstration of Unihemishperic sleep.

The Daschund is a neat dog, a bit hard to train though.

I like smaller, shorthaired breeds...they're way cool!!!
