| Civil War question. I have a quiz in History tomorrow and I need help with this question on my study guide.: What was the issue that the North and South could not agree on, and why?
Any thoughts?

| The north wanted to preserve the union and work it out.
The south wanted to secede from the union.
The north just used the slavery issue later to get the French on their side.

| The issue was weather or not the federal government could pass laws that superceeded the laws of the individual states. and weather or not the federal government had the legal authority to enforce them on the individual independant states. |

| Which was only an issue because 1) the South was losing power 2) the North didn't like slavery. |

| The war wasn't fought over slavery, slavery was one of the many issues, within the issue of State's Rights.
However, public schools, the answer will be slavery, whether it's true or not. |

| The issue that they could not agree on was slavery.
