Sorry to hear about your son. Hope everything goes well for him. | I was a commercial fisherman off the coast of OR., Wa., and Ca. before so it was a natural progression. You can get into offshore supply work with no experience though. Our company policy frowns on fishing but some guys do it. I have worked on boats were we caught a lot of fish--it helps pass the time.
Thanks for the well wishes for my son. |

| Tomorrow we leave for the Oregon coast. First vacation in a while, first time the kids have been on a plane, it will be fun. My oldest boy is doing better. It's quite a jolt to your reality to be arrested and spend a night in jail. His court date is in Sept. so that is a long time to wait and be nerveous. Some of the charges are fairly serious. My main prayer (other than for his relationship with Christ etc.) is that he can avoid felony charges and prison time. Misdemenors and county jail time are not that big of deal, but going to prison...Hopefuly he has learned some lessons and a few months from now this will all be behind him.
That's all for now. See ya in Oregon. |

| We will be in the same county where Lewis and Clark spent the winter. We will not go on the "Oregon trail", but we will visit several historic sites. I will post pics and info. |

| That would've been cool because I grew up on the Computer game by Mecc and it was pretty cool. I've always wanted to visit the Oregon Trail.

| We arived in Portland Oregon yesterday and spent our first day on the Oregon coast today. We got some surprisingly good pictures from the plane of mt. rainer as we approached Seatle and of mt. St. helens as we approached Portland. I will put them in my sig once I get them on my computer. Spent a few hours with my oldest boy last night--had a great visit and will see him some more this week. We spent to day in Seaside--if you haven't been there it is a classic coastal tourist town. We bought trinkets and candy and went on rides. I'm still some what queezy from the tilt-a- whirl and then the twisty road home--we don't have hills and sharp turns in south east Texas. |

I miss fresh saltwater taffy. It is the best on the Oregon Coast.

We will also be getting some fresh seafood from a friend of mine who runs a fishing boat--really looking forward to that. |

The shop where we bought makes all their candy right there on the spot so it's soft and chewy. They have about 15 flavors and they're all great. |

| I've always liked regular taffy. But never tried the saltwater kind.

| Took the kids back to Seaside today, we rode some rides and enjoyed some Tillamook ice cream (the best ice cream in the world). We then went to the beach where the kids got their feet wet--for the last two years the only beaches we've seen are in Galveston and Freeport Texas, so they are not used to 58 degree water--they didn't stay in the water too long. We went to church with my mother in law last night. Her pastor is on vacation and pre-recorded his sermons at a riverside location to be played when he was gone. I've never heard of a pastor doing that. This particular pastor in the past has just asked one of his deacons, or assistant pastor etc. to preach. Who ever produced the video did a pretty good job. |
