There is no difference in sin, I think most agree with that statement. If I'm friends with someone that steals cars for a living, it's pretty easy for them (the thief) to realize that I would consider that activity wrong (because they themselves deep down know that its wrong).

Homosexuality seems to present a different angle on that same level of understanding however. If I'm friends with someone that's gay, I really don't know if they understand my feelings about the morality of that activity, because 1) they have never asked me and 2) because usually deep down (unlike the car thief) they don't feel that it's wrong. The difference isn't in the sin, but in a person's perception of what constitues sin.

I'm not even sure if what I wrote makes sense...I'm way too tired today

hey, I don't know if this has been posted on this thread yet, but all sin is equal in God's eyes. I'm not sure which scripture that came from, but I've heard it a few times.

I was kind of surprised to see this thread resurected, but since it was I thought I'd add my personel experience with the issue. Shortly after I was saved and attending a very conservitive church my wifes little brother who was about 22 came out of the closet. I felt it was my duty as the spirtual leader of my family to "deal" with the issue. Two years latter at a family gathering (the first one he had been to since he came out because his dad kind of banished him) I pulled him aside to make sure he knew that while we still loved him we could not agree with or support his lifestyle. Like he didn't already know that. I think that might have been the single most insecitive thing I have ever done. The fact that we have any kind of friendship today is a testament to his abbility to forgive. I will be seeing him again next month as we take a family vacation back to the west coast and intend on pulling him aside again--this time to appolgize.

I disagree. I wholeheartedly disagree. I don't associate knowingly with people who cheat on their spouses. I try not to associate with drug abusers. People who do those things are not welcome in my house. I demonstrate love for them by sharing the Gospel. What happens after I've shared the Gospel ain't up to me anyway.
