Photo Challenge #9 ~ 4/20-5/12

Let's see if this works....

The challenge is to take a photograph that you've seen and loved from someone else and try to replicate it.

The subject can be anything. Include the photo that you're trying to emulate along with your reproduction.

It doesn't have to be anything extremely hard from a super genius photographer - judging will be based on how closely you replicated the original photo, so be easy on yourselves. Just find a good photo that doesn't seem to be out of your skill level, but make sure it pushes you to learn something new.

How's this sound?

p.s. the photo can be from anywhere. I think the above might have made it sound like you were to choose a fellow CGRer's photo.

p.p.s Photo must be taken with the expressed time frame in the subject title.

Rules:

1) Photo must be taken in this time frame. No digging up old photos.

2) Please post entries either as a jpeg attachment or as a thumbnail no bigger than 500px wide with a link to the larger version if you want.

3) We will not exclude images based on conforming to the rules, but keep in mind that one of the things the image will be judged on is how well it shows this week's challenge subject.

4) To keep this thread simple and clean, if you don't want to enter and just want critique before an official entry, post it in the designated photography critique thread, not here. You can however discuss the subject or any entries here if you want.

5) You are encouraged to share your camera settings, shutter speeds, aperture, etc., but EXIF is not strictly required.

Haha touche! You could try...maybe bubble gum cigarettes? It's like little puffs of sugar when you blow.

Hmmm.... How about instead of recreating a photo exactly, we could try recreating an element of the photo, or draw inspiration? And have an explanation. That could be even more interesting, I think. Creative copies vs. carbon copies.

If you want to do that why not just mention it with yours, maybe we'll vote for it. I like his guidelines.

Wait I am kinda confused, so we try to basically copy a photo as best we can? And the photo we try to replacate will be taken from another photographer? Do both photos have tobe from the same time frame?

This cross reminds my family and me everyday ''that by His stripes we are healed''.
We shall not fear sickness or disease, we shall stand with much faith in our hearts and say,'' We will not tolerate these evil works of the evil one, but stand firm in our faith and be healed in Jesus name.''

I don't know why, but I've always loved this picture of Son House. Here's the original and my re-creation. I'm no expert by all means, but I've always wanted to learn more about photography and I thought this would be a good experience with judging and the critique and all.....

Basically, yes, just copy a photo. Any photo.

I know for this one, I'll be up for trying to emulate one of the timeless masters of photography. It will be an interesting challenge indeed.

I like this idea indeed, but let's make that an offshoot of sorts. Perhaps another bonus challenge? haha
